2 Chainz has delayed his decision to reopen his Atlanta restaurants amid the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, he's providing meals for the city's homeless population.

He indicated the change of heart in an Instagram post last night. The video shows him donning protective gear, while patrons queue — a safe distance apart — in front of Escobar Restaurant and Tapas.

Last week, TMZ reported that the “Mercy” rapper was gearing up to reopen his restaurants for sit-down service. While the decision adheres to Georgia's newly relaxed Covid-19 restrictions, it raised eyebrows. The governor's aggressive plan to reopen the state has been widely regarded as dangerous for Georgians and for the recovery of the entire country.

2 Chainz and his business partner Snoop Dillard had already donated hundreds of meals to medical workers on the frontlines. They stressed that employees at Escobar will have their temperatures checked when they clock in, mandatory gloves provided, and masks for cooks.

Across town, Run the Jewels's Killer Mike opted to keep his Swag Shop barbershop closed, despite the state reopening. "We’re gonna wait a while before we reopen because in our community... there are more of us who are dying, unfortunately," he told TMZ.
