Double Tap to Zoom

Like a triple distilled single malt whiskey, A-COLD-WALL*’s Nike sneaker collaboration only gets better with age.

A peculiar comparison, sure, but one that’ll make more sense when you understand how Nike’s design-driven aging process works.

Realised on its uber-popular roadman-approved Air Max Plus sneaker, Nike’s ACW* footwear takes away the protective coating usually found on its footwear, a move that accelerates the discoloration process through wear and results in a beautifully worn-looking sneaker over time.

Similar to the pair’s collaborative Vomero sneaker back in 2018 that adopted the same hue-changing design, ACW*’s most recent Nike Air Max Plus boasts a two-tone leather upper that will gradually shift in color over time.

Traditionally, Nike’s Air Max Plus sneakers boast glossy palm tree-inspired TPU panels on its upper. While appearing to do the same initially, a closer glance will show that ACW*’s version is virtually glossy-less. Kinda luxe if you ask me.

Officially titled ACW_TN98, the pair’s collaboration, which are available online now, isn’t like other sneakers.

For most, the aim is to keep your shoes looking gleaming and box-fresh. But for ACW* and Nike, it’s almost the complete opposite. Really makes you think, huh?
