Luxury and sportswear have never been so close to each other. The worlds are now two sides of the same coin, largely due to collaboration. While luxury houses have long made references to sportswear in their collections, recent seasons have seen a more decisive move on the part of luxury houses to affiliate themselves with the biggest sportswear brands.

Take adidas x Gucci, for example, or Virgil’s $2750 Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1s. Examples of high-end sportswear are all around us, but they’re rarely done in-house by the sportswear half of the equation. That’s what makes adidas Blue Version such a standout.

"This season of Blue Version serves up styles inspired by country club tennis, picking up details from the sartorial side of the sport. It's a beautiful fusion of sportswear and tailoring, riffing off moments from our sporting history, all the while created from a new perspective,” says Stefano Pierre Beruschi, Senior Design Director of adidas Originals.

adidas Blue Version views the adidas range through a more conceptual, luxurious lens. Higher-quality materials and craftsmanship partner with experimental cuts for refreshing takes on the classics. The latest arrival to the Blue Version collection is a range of High Shine pieces that perfectly exemplify the collection’s stance.

Classic sportswear items like raglan-sleeve hoodies, tennis skirts, and polo shirts are given a futuristic update with the High Shine fabric. The nylon material has a mind-bending liquid-shine finish that catches the light and puts on a show. It’s a novel way to bring a sense of wonder to traditional sportswear without completely reinventing it.
