In a nod to Japan’s Away strip, adidas Originals has reached, naturally, for the Japan silhouette and given it a head-turning, rainbow-colored upper.

Retaining its gum sole unit, the design still somehow manages to feel retro despite the clean, modern color palette. Its low profile providing the understated antidote to the maximalist color scheme.

This isn’t the first and it certainly won’t be the last World Cup release in the coming weeks and months, but it might be our favorite yet. It’s highly wearable as a standalone shoe, but also pays homage to the event and a kit that’s worth remembering.
