adidas is issuing a new round of Puffylette shoes, which boast fake print designs inspired by classic adidas models like the Samba, Superstar, Forum, and Stan Smith.

Looking to the pic, the shoe looks like a slightly bloated Samba sneaker from afar. But, the Puffylette actually totes a Samba print on its quilted upper, giving the illusion of the adidas soccer shoe — a Samba dupe, if you will.

Of course, adidas pulls the same optical trick with its other three Puffylette iterations, all of which land on December 2 on adidas' website.

Introduced in the latter half of 2022, the Puffylette is basically an adidas puffer jacket for your feet. The adidas model totes a padded upper infused with PrimaLoft insulation, all atop a cushioned EVA midsole and outsole (it reminds me of The North Face's slippers).

The Puffylette is essentially a plush extension of the adidas adilette slide, whose universe now includes clog, seismic, and even stuffed animal-equipped slip-on shoes.

After launching the Puffylette in safe colorways and classic Three-Stripe designs, adidas joins in on fashion's mind tricks craze with its latest puffer shoe release.

Leather jeans, body print dresses, and now faux Samba mules? Fashion is becoming the new "is it cake."
