The adidas Tokyo isn’t new. The ultra-slim sneaker that’s been a firm favorite since its relaunch isn’t new. What is new, however, is how the silhouette is being dressed.

This latest iteration of the Tokyo swaps the usual plain uppers for something a little more expressive: a repeating of the brand’s Trefoil monogram pattern spread across a beige textile base.

The effect lands somewhere between classic sportswear and an almost luxury-house-like vibe, proof that even adidas’ most stripped-back silhouettes can carry a bit of graphic attitude.

Structurally, the shoe keeps everything that defines the Tokyo intact. The profile stays slim and low to the ground, its narrow racing shape feeling lifted straight from a vintage running catalog.

Serrated dark brown Three Stripes slice across the upper, while thin, ribbon-like laces arrive patterned, subtly echoing the Trefoil-stamped base.

If anything, the patterned update couldn’t have dropped at a better moment. As sneaker trends shake off the quiet-luxury stranglehold, is adidas quietly courting the logo-heavy aesthetic that ruled the late 2010s?

This monogram version simply gives the understated silhouette something louder to say. And God knows, it’s been on mute for quite some time.
