Double Tap to Zoom

In continuation of their partnership, ASICS and Kiko Kostadinov are dropping the most recent installment of their sneaker collaboration. Available in two colorways, the GEL-KIRIL III blends once more the Japanese sports brand's high performance functionality with the London-based designer's quirkiness and sense of whimsy.

An accompanying campaign featured a cast of construction site pros, all harnessed-up, in attire that alludes to the shoe's own duality of utilitarianism and playfulness, workwear and high fashion.

Not that that's any surprise though. As a matter of fact, these GEL-KIRILs are a mere taste of what may be to come on that front, when one remembers Kiko's Paris show in January: Models flowed down a leaf-covered runway, in Frodo-like outwear and split-toe, Tabi-esque ASICS boots.

For better of for worse, the GEL-KIRIL IIIs, however, are on the more conservative side, equipped with ASICS' trademark gel cushioning and signature panels, alongside an exaggerated, slightly chonky sole and all-round embossments.

Further upping the ante on Kiko Kostadinov's influence, here, is a palette of subtle contrasts: charcoal and blue in one style, and the khaki greens and neon yellow in the other.

The spring-appropriate, flower-patterned tow cap's like the bow around the gift that is this recurring pairing. It's one that keeps on giving. Hopefully for much longer.
