Bill Gates has pledged to donate $100 million to help fight the coronavirus epidemic. Made through the Gates Foundation, the donation will support public health authorities in finding a vaccine, CNN reports.

The World Health Organization and US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will receive $20 million, with more funds expected to go towards health authorities in China and other countries affected by the outbreak.

Elsewhere, the donation is expected to support the construction of hospitals and other infrastructures in Southern Asia and Africa, a brand-new international database of the outbreak, and even at-home test kits.

This isn't the first time Gates has gotten involved in the fight against coronavirus. The tycoon previously pledged to donate $10 million and called the recent outbreak a "once-in-a-century pathogen."
