CELINE loves summer. You'd think that Hedi Slimane's puckish rockers would prefer colder climes, what with their rugged leather jackets and slim jeans, but they take to warm weather quite nicely.

Slimane himself, the very face of his signature style, is terrifically fond of famous French beaches like those of Saint-Tropez.

And as Slimane goes, so too does CELINE.

CELINE Surf, a seasonal capsule available on CELINE's website and stores, is of a similar vein as CELINE Skate, another specific offering that coincides with the luxury label's greater Spring/Summer 2024 collection, "Delusional Daydream."

Therein, classic CELINE fare is reimagined for the current season, from slick viscose Hawaiian shirts to fuzzy mohair cardigans intended for crisp spring evenings.

You might think that CELINE Surf is the sort of thing that exists within that range, but it is its own thing (though it coexists terribly well with CELINE's other mainline collection). As such, it gets a little deeper into Slimane's vision of CELINE beach life.

Anchored (ha) by a terrifically Slimane surfboard (all-black, CELINE logo, no frills), CELINE Surf is a luxurious mélange of Slimane classics and the sort of thing a louche Californian wave hound might slip into post-sesh.

We're talking baja-style pullover hoodies, hoodies painted with the gradient hues of a summer sunset, tie-dye by the boatload, and a selection of stylish sunglasses. If ever there was a single summer necessity...

Some of the niftier bits are clearly distinct from your average summertime CELINE offering. Knit bucket hats, a fancy leather iteration of an easy summer bangle, and a big ol' daily driver handbag printed with the CELINE Triomphe monogram epitomize beachside lounging.

This is the stuff that makes Slimane a leader in his luxury class. Hardly any other designer so capably comes correct with instantly wearable staples elevated by just enough panache to make 'em interesting (but not outlandish).

Sounds easy enough but if anyone could actually do that, there'd be more than one Slimane. And, clearly, there simply ain't.
