Converse’s Slickest Sneaker-Loafer Just Got Dressier (Squarer, Too)
First, there were Converse loafers. Then, there were square-toed Chuck Taylors. Now, the sneaker brand has its very own — drum roll, please — square-toed loafer.
Converse's All-Star Square-Toe loafer borrows several elements from traditional dress shoes, including the familiar blocky toe boxes, slick leather uppers, and even the tassels.
Of course, let's also not forget that the entire shoe is modeled after a classic penny loafer, if it took a trip to the All-Star factory.
Again, Converse is no stranger to delivering classy takes on its most iconic styles. Some efforts even leaned so heavily into formal-shoe territory that we questioned whether to include them in the sneaker-loafer conversation altogether (the answer is no when Regal Shoe Co. is involved).
The latest is certainly more on the hybrid side, as it keeps the Chuck Taylor's signature sole unit. Basically, the brand brought classic comfort to its very own snazzy loafer.
For those looking to expand their dressy sneaker collection, the All-Star Square Toe loafer is scheduled to release on Converse Japan's website on January 27 for ¥17,600, or roughly $112.
