Crocs’ new Off-Grid Clogs are the finest clogs I ever did see. Or, at least the best Crocs released this particular week. Whether that’s down to the sleek greyscale colorway, the futuristic perforated upper, or the chunky HOKA-like midsole, I’m not entirely sure but brought together into a single package, all I can say is this: these clogs go hard.

Perhaps what I’m finding most attractive about Crocs’ Off-Grid Clogs is the shape.

Unlike the Classic Clog, which is kinda curved and kinda bulbus, the new Off-Grid Clog appears a lot sterner, with straight lines and a much more defined finish.

More sneaker-like, if you will, perhaps foretelling a the inevitable future of Crocs sneakers.

To be honest, while the midsole of Crocs' Off-Grid Clog looks HOKA-esque — which is a huge compliment, by the way — the backless shoe is, in general, more akin to the Nike Zoom 005 Slide designed in partnership with Matthew M Williams’ 107 ALYX 9SM label.

That’s not taking anything away from Crocs, though.

The footwear label's undoubtedly the master of rubber footwear, having proved its absolute top-tier skill with an objectively stellar 2023 packed with crazy-good collaborations and fabulously excellent in-house shoes. And plenty of deservedly wacky clogs, for good measure.

Though the Off-Grid Clogs are, in my opinion, Crocs’ best looking slide of its own design, they are also one of their most serious-looking.

Of course, that isn’t itself a necessarily a major accomplishment when you consider the amount of comparably goofy shoes that Crocs has released this year, namely the collaborative Shrek Clogs and Crocs Cowboy Boots, which really just speak for themselves.

Still, just when you think Crocs’ rubber footwear can’t get any better, it does you one better and drops the Off-Grid Clogs that, for want of a better phrase, absolutely bang.

With shoes this strong still dropping even as the year wraps up, here's to what's likely to be an absolutely Crocs-tastic 2024.
