Crocs’ newest foam slip-on, the Phaedra, fits the bill of both stylish and inherently offbeat.

If there’s one thing Crocs is exceptionally great at — aside from designing the perfect house shoes, great-looking mules, and gigantic MSCHF boots — it’s making genuinely stylish, eccentric slip-ons.

Ever since the release of Crocs’ Classic Clog back in 2002 (a silhouette that remains a cornerstone of the brand to this day), the Boulder-based footwear label has delivered a plethora of stellar-looking shoes, most of which come with their own idiosyncratic twist.

With a strap-like upper, chunky as hell midsole, and bulbous rounded heel, the Crocs Phaedra is basically a Croc-ified version of a strappy Mary Jane.

Unlike a classic Mary Jane, though, which typically has an actual strap on the top of the foot that you can actually undo, Crocs’ Phaedra bears the same shape as the closed-toe classic, but can be slipped into thanks to its Croslite build.

Underfoot, Crocs’ Phaedra, which for now appears to be a Japan-only release, boasts a super grippy outsole. This means that while the buttermilk-colored slip-on might look like the perfect summer shoe with its well-ventilated upper, it’s actually equipped to be worn on the move, too.

Like the sneaker-like Echo and the adventure-ready Quick Trail that came before it, Crocs’ Phaedra is the perfect blend of functional, stylish, and completely zany: three characteristics you can usually be assured of with any Crocs release, to be honest.
