Earlier this month, Tremaine Emory's Denim Tears held a one-day exclusive pop-up dubbed "The Hissing of Summer Tears" at Procell in NYC. The showcase displayed limited edition prints, as well as sweatshirts, T-shirts, and a zine all centered around the topic of slavery.

Over 400 years ago, the first African slaves were dropped off at "point comfort," a point of land in Hampton, Virginia on August 20, 1619. The "Hissing of Summer Tears" collection is a mediation on the anniversary of that dark moment in American history.

The collection of apparel feature prints from the limited-edition zine, including its cover, which features an illustration of the city skyline with slaves working in a field.

The entire "Hissing of Sumer Tears" collection is now available to shop online at denimtears.com.
