The E3 2020 conference has been canceled. The event was scheduled for June 9 to 11 in Los Angeles and is no longer happening due to coronavirus concerns. Now the gaming conference might be exploring digital options in lieu of the LA event.

Despite the cancellation, the E3 team said they will explore ways in which they can deliver industry and product announcements. In a statement, the Entertainment Software Association — the video game lobbyist group that runs the trade show —, for instance, said it will be looking “to coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020."

Yesterday, organizers announced the cancellation in an official statement posted on E3's website. "Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, we felt this was the best way to proceed during such an unprecedented global situation."

The annual event is considered one of the biggest gaming conventions in the world, bringing the biggest industry names — Microsoft, Nintendo, Sega, Capcom, and Ubisoft to name a few— all in one place. It remains to be seen whether digital events will be scheduled in its place.

Stay tuned for more updates.
