Engineered Garments and Dr. Martens are no strangers to collaboration. In fact, they’re probably two of the more experienced when it comes to link-ups.

From Supreme, Yohji Yamamoto, and PLEASURES, to Barbour, HOKA ONE ONE, and Suicoke, there aren’t many stones left unturned when it comes to the two brands exploring new ideas.

The pair are no strangers to collaborating with each other, either. Since debuting together in 2017, the EG and Dr. Martens conveyor belt has been in full swing (five times, to be exact), the most recent of which being back in 2018 when the Nepenthes label had its say on the 3989 5-Eye Brogue.

Now four years on, Daiki Suzuki’s EG label heads to the original Dr. Martens factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, to design two new silhouettes, both of which are set to drop online on September 9.

This time focusing on the 1461, EG’s penchant for over-engineering the finer details of a product echoes through both silhouettes, and is also said to be a nod to the asymmetric lace system that featured in the duo’s aforementioned 2017 release.

Arriving in either black leather or “Milkshake” suede, the collaboration comprises two robust silhouettes that are as suited to the office as they are at home.

Because, after all, that’s where the beauty in a Dr. Martens product lies: in its versatility. Whether you’re headed to the pub, a wedding, or even a bloody funeral, there’s a 1461 for every occasion. Let’s just make it EG, for now? Sound.
