Double Tap to Zoom

On G Herbo's new studio album PTSD, the Chicago rapper draws on the therapy sessions that helped him process the traumatic psychological impact of his youth.

The album’s title track features Chance the Rapper, Lil Uzi Vert, and the late Juice WRLD. Throughout “PTSD” the Chicago rappers reflect on the city's ever-present threat of violence, and the anxiety, paranoia, and addiction that those conditions produced in its youth.

It's a subject close to Lil Herb's heart. Last year he told us, “When I was in the streets every day when I woke up I knew I could potentially die or go to jail.” In another interview, he revealed, “I come from one of the worst neighborhoods in Chicago … We don’t really understand, you know. And I was one of those guys. I was clinically diagnosed with PTSD through my therapist, and until I was aware of these situations, it was just normal.”
