If you've been waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6, be prepared to wait a lot longer.

Fans have been waiting for the gaming franchise to make its return for eight years, but according to a reputable gaming source the wait won't be over until 2025, Gamespot reports. The theory was further supported by a statement by the game's publisher Take-Two during a recent shareholder event.

The renowned leaker, Tom Henderson, who is primarily known for his (mostly) accurate leaks on Battlefield and Call of Duty, released a new video this week sharing a bunch of alleged GTA 6 details. According to Henderson, there are a few reasons for the game's delay.

Firstly, apparently, Rockstar Games has been focusing heavily on "employee wellbeing" and is aiming to avoid gaming's toxic crunch culture. The developer reportedly doesn't want to announce the game until it's confident that it will hit its release date, without any delays, but it wants to do so without making employees work extremely long hours to meet a deadline

Then, Henderson claims that GTA 6 will only release on the newer PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles – and PC, of course. But given how coveted the PS5 and Xbox Series X are, Rockstar Games is apparently waiting until there is a "big enough market" for these consoles – aka until the majority of players can actually get their hands on them.

And the third key reason for this delay is frustratingly simple: GTA 5 is still extremely popular. Rockstar would likely not want to release GTA 6 while its predecessor is still so successful.

While the reasons make sense, it's even more disappointing to know that there are legitimate factors behind this delay. So while you wait, check out Henderson's full video below.
