Gucci has announced its SS19 collection will debut at Paris' Théâtre Le Palace this September. The event marks the first time the famous venue has hosted a runway show.

First constructed in the 17th century as a music and dance hall, Le Palace rebranded as a discotheque in the ’70s. Such is its reputation, some have referred to it as Paris' answer to Studio 54, with Michel Gaube, Alessandro Michele's longtime friend and music collaborator, a resident DJ during its salad days.

The one-off show is the climax of a three-part homage to the French capital, conceived by Michele. The project started with the brand's pre-fall/winter advertising campaign which took us back to the Paris of 1968, followed by its May cruise show in Arles.

“The Théâtre Le Palace resonates with the vision of the house as it is a venue that gave life to a (sub)culture that has inspired young generations up until today,” read a statement from Gucci.

Gucci's third and final dedication to France will be unveiled at Le Palace for Gucci SS19 on September 24.
