Double Tap to Zoom

JAY-Z features on Jay Electronica's new album track "Flux Capacitor" and used the opportunity to clap back at haters who called him a capitalistic sell-out over his NFL deal.

The backlash started in August 2019, when the 50-year-old billionaire rapper and his entertainment agency Roc Nation signed a deal with the NFL to work together on events and its social justice initiative called Inspire Change.

Yet critics claim Hov chose money over cause after he decided to exclude Colin Kaepernick — the former 49ers quarterback allegedly exiled by the league for his on-field protests against racism and police brutality — from being part of the initiative.

On the track, he raps, “Why would I sell out? I’m already rich, don’t make no sense / Got more money than Goodell, a whole NFL bench / Did it one-handed like Odell, handcuffed to a jail / I would’ve stayed on the sideline if they could’ve tackled that sh*t themselves.”

A Written Testimony also features R&B singer The-Dream and Travis Scott. Listen to the preview of the "Flux Capacitor" below.
