Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s official job title might be second baseman for the New York Yankees, but the 28-year-old is also clearly on a side quest to push his favorite show to the forefront of America's oldest pastime. To make Chisholm Jr.'s point obvious, he tapped Luffy and crew to help him properly kick off his MLB career.

For his Yankees debut on March 25, Jazz Chisholm Jr. broke out a fresh pair of bespoke One Piece cleats, with the glove to match because, well, duh.

The animated Jordan cleats were customized for Chisholm Jr. by 15-year-old designer Evan Taveras, who decked the shoes out with images of Luffy, One Piece's main man alongside straw-like accents that reference Luffy’s signature hat and a fishhook-style number 13 at the heel to match his jersey number.

Chisholm Jr. knows what he likes, and he's not scared to put it in your face — or on his feet.

See, if there is anything Chisholm Jr. knows better than baseball, it's One Piece, a Japanese manga-turned-anime-turned-world-conquering franchise that has cemented its place not only in Chisholm Jr.’s heart but his wardrobe.

"Everybody knows One Piece is like my favorite anime in the world," Chisholm Jr. told Highsnobiety earlier this year. "You can tell: I'm wearing a One Piece shirt, One Piece chain, One Piece pants."

And it doesn’t stop there. He also has a custom One Piece Hermès Birkin bag drizzled with 1,000 Swarovski crystals and a blinged-out "Luffy" chain, the Nassau native's go-to flex.

Chisholm Jr. was already well-versed in the art of anime fashions and that he's pushing back against the dress-code rigidity associated with the MLB pre-game is a move that epitomizes his aim to keep it real.

"I feel like in baseball, they don't expect you to be a normal person. They want you to feel like you're above the normal person,” Chisholm Jr. said. “Which I hate, because I'm not."

Now, these custom One Piece items aren't just for show. They may reflect Chisholm Jr.'s first (or perhaps second) love but One Piece or not, Chisholm Jr. is here to work.

"My job isn't to put on a suit and tie," he said. "My job is to put on a uniform and get in that dirt."
