JJJJound & Salomon Is Ready To Spread Its XT-Wings
JJJJound and Salomon have ffffinally found their way to each other.
On May 16, JJJJound teased first looks at a collaborative Salomon sneaker, which appeared to be a take on the XT-Wings 2 model realized in white and blue.
The Montreal-based design studio provided glimpses at the shoe's heels, which showcases some co-branding and the presence of Salomon's sensiFIT and endoFIT tech, typically seen in the XT-Wings 2.
Then on May 24, JJJJound confirmed our XT-Wings 2 suspicions with a full first-look at the collaborative sneaker, which boasts all the mesh and synthetic fabrics we've come to expect from the silhouette.
The result, a nearly all-white shoe offset by blue paneling, looks more like a shoe made for hospital staff than the quietly handsome kicks we expect from JJJJound but, hey, they can't all be bangers.
JJJJound and Salomon's XT Wings 2 sneaker collab is expected to release on June 1 exlclusively on JJJJound's website, followed by a June 2 release at Salomon and select retailers.
There's no denying that Salomon has blown up in recent years, with its general releases often flying off shelves about as quickly as the French company's consistently solid collabs.
Recent team-ups include big names like COMME des GARÇONS, Sandy Liang, and the Rihanna-approved Maison Margiela linkup.
JJJJound, on the other hand, reigns supreme with its own extremely coveted footwear team-ups, including its super-understated (damn near general release-looking) sneaker collabs with New Balance and ASICS.
In short, it was only a matter of time before the two titanic forces currently killing the sneaker game connected for an official collaboration. And now, the moment has arrived.
Like anything coming from JJJJound and Salomon nowadays, expect their first collaborative shoe also to be a hyped. I've already seen a quite a few "shoe of the summer" nominations.
