Editor’s Notes: Converse has tapped Don C to help reintroduce its ERX basketball sneaker. First released in 1988, the ERX was packed with some of the most advanced sneaker tech of the era.

Although the shoe was popularized by several Detroit Pistons players, it also “graced the feet of rock stars and skate legends,” according to the brand.

Fast forward 30 years and bulky, technical sneakers are back in a big way, making this the right moment for Converse and Don C to bring back the ERX. Peep some up-close shots taken by our very own Jian DeLeon at a Converse event at New York Fashion Week.

Speaking about the partnership and what the ERX means to him, Don C said, “I remembered the ERX model because it had so many layers in the past. That makes me proud, because I love when basketball becomes part of another arena.”

The first of the new sneakers are set to drop this holiday season, when the white/vaporous gray/white iteration is released.
