Lady Gaga has officially joined the cast of Oscar-winning director, Ridley Scott's upcoming movie about the Gucci dynasty. Deadline reports that Gaga has signed on for the role of Patrizia Reggiani, who was convicted of murdering her husband Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of Gucci's founder.

Reggiani was tried and convicted of orchestrating her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in 1995. She served 18 years before being let out of jail in 2016. Roberto Bentivegna will write the script, adapting the true-life story from Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.  The compelling drama will be framed around the rise of the Gucci family business that denigrated into squabbles over control of the business and greed. Ridley Scott will reportedly co-produce the film with actress Giannina Scott and Scott Free Productions

This is Gaga's latest foray into acting after making her debut in A Star Is Born last year.
