'Call Me by Your Name's Luca Guadagnino to Direct 'Scarface' Reboot

Luca Guadagnino, director and producer of Call Me by Your Name, has been tapped to direct the upcoming Scarface reboot, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Other names previously suspected of directing the movie have included David Ayer and Antoine Fuqua, while Joel and Ethan Coen have already written the latest version of the script. Previous drafts were penned by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, Jonathan Herman, and Paul Attanasio.

The latest Scarface is to be set in Los Angeles, following Howard Hawks' 1932 installment in Chicago and Brian De Palma's 1983 version in Miami, which starred Al Pacino as drug kingpin, Tony Montana.

Scarface will be produced by Dylan Clark and executive produced by Scott Stuber, Marco Marabito, Brian Williams, Jay Polidoro, and Lexi Barta.
