Double Tap to Zoom

Graham King, English film producer, notably of the 2018 Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, has reached a deal with the estate of Michael Jackson for his life and music rights, as he intends to develop a feature film based on the King of Pop. According to Deadline, the biopic will not serve as a "sanitized rendering of Jackson’s life," who was infamously accused of child sex abuse.

King has tapped Gladiator and The Aviator screenwriter John Logan to pen the script, as the two previously worked together on the latter film. No studio or distributor have been appointed at this time.

News of the impending Michael Jackson biopic comes as the Jackson estate suede HBO for its recent Leaving Neverland documentary in which two men accused Jackson of sexually abusing them when they were children. The project notably won an Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special.

Additionally, MJ: The Musical is set to debut on Broadway in 2020.
