The NBA has been suspended indefinitely since March 11 due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Now, though, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reports that the league has a “Back to Basketball” plan in place, should the season be resumed.

Speaking as a guest on SportsCenter, Windhorst said the NBA has spent a lot of time formulating a plan on how to get the league back up and running as soon as possible after play is deemed safe enough to resume. The plan apparently includes 11 days of individual training, as well as a 14-day training camp for teams to get their players back up to the fitness levels required in the NBA.

This would mean the NBA would need around 3.5 to 4 weeks to get back into the full swing of things after making the decision to resume the season. Windhorst reports that this is a contingency plan, with NBA commissioner Adam Silver saying there will be no decision made on the league’s status until at least May.

Many other sports and professional leagues around the world have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. European football leagues are also currently discussing how best to resume play safely, though any decision is unlikely to be made soon.
