At this year's E3 gaming expo, publisher Telltale Games announced an exclusive partnership with Netflix to bring streamable, interactive "games" to the site. The company confirmed the first title will be Minecraft: Story Mode, slated to release later this fall.

Minecraft will be the latest addition to Netflix's growing interactive services. Currently, the streaming site hosts child-friendly titles such as Puss in Boots: Trapped in an Epic Tale which operate in a similar choose-your-own-adventure mode, with the player making text choices to control their character.

The forthcoming five-episode narrative will be adapted from the original game. But while confirmed as a game on Telltale's end, Netflix has been keen to stress otherwise. “We don’t have any plans to get into gaming,” a Netflix spokesperson said in response to TechRadar’s report. “There’s a broad spectrum of entertainment available today. Games have become increasingly cinematic, but we view this as interactive narrative storytelling on our service."

In addition to Minecraft, reports reveal that Telltale Games will also be producing an interactive game based on Netflix's Stranger Things series. This project, however, will not be coming to Netflix, instead launching on the Telltale platform at a TBC date.
