New Balance’s Young Dad Shoe Knows the Power of New Balance Grey
Even the younger New Balance dad shoes know the old trick of New Balance Grey, and how the color turns nearly every NB sneaker into rotation gold.
The New Balance 2010 certainly knows its stuff. The latest version of the model comes in the brand's particularly trendy "Raincloud" colorway.
The "Raincloud" scheme really took off with the New Balance 2002R Protection Pack, a collection of deconstructed sneakers that honestly put the 2002R model on the map. The 2021 release consisted of three colorways, but naturally, the grey "Raincloud" pairs took the cake.
Since then, the colorway has also appeared on the 1906L and even New Balance's sneaker-mule hybrids. With the "Raincloud" 2010s, it's the same grey, different dad shoe.
It's a classic example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," honestly. Inspired by the NB sneakers of yesterday, the 2010 already follows the standard dad-shoe procedure. It features the usual mesh and suede construction, plus those chunky soles made with the brand's comfiest technology.
And it's grey.
It's the brand's signature colorway. And it does it so well that there's an entire holiday called Grey Day, which celebrates the brand's magic touch. And over the years, the efforts have only gotten better, so much so that they turned the one-day celebration into a month-long rollout.
New Balance's grey sneakers aren't these wild designs, either. Instead, they're simple reliable, everyday sneakers outfitted in clean grey schemes and solid materials. No frills, just normal grey dad shoes (complimentary).
It's great to see the tradition carried on with even newer models like the 2010, whose "Raincloud" editions are now up for grabs on New Balance's website for $160.
