What We’re Saying: New Balance is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 991 this year. To kick start the festivities, the Boston-based brand is releasing a commemorative pack comprising two iterations of the 991.

Both versions of the 20th anniversary 991 — one men’s and one women’s — arrive in New Balance's signature grey colorway. The two versions differ slightly, as the men's drop incorporates dark grey branding, while the women's boasts teal branding and accents.

The predecessor to the 990v2, the 991 was New Balance's first 99x silhouette to feature ABZORB cushioning technology in the forefoot and beneath the heel. The sneaker is also known for its streamlined toebox.  Over the years, the 99x line has become synonymous with comfort.

The 991 "Anniversary" Pack is scheduled to be released this Friday, February 26, at select New Balance retailers globally. You can expect additional colorways of the 991 to launch throughout the year.
