Nike's serpentine take on an icon is an homage to one of Los Angeles' most adored players.

This special edition Air Force One Kobe is a wearable love-letter to the late namesake legend, Kobe Bryant. The light grey snake skin and other subtle nods to his career keep the appreciation understated and tasteful, with intensely green accents to show, however, that this Mamba still has some bite.

For a shoe to commemorate his larger than life character, Nike goes back to where it all started, with Bryant's numbers 8 and 24, embroidered on the heels, as a small IYKYK gesture to throw it back to his high school days. It's a full circle, sentimental moment for true fans.

Beyond that, there's the famous Sheath logo, and "Mamba Forever' lace tags, which are each low-key but poignant details, in honor of a player that never let his successes spoil his humility.

Just like Bryant was for his sport, the Air Force 1's the work horse of the sneaker genre, and utterly wearable across places and situations.

Also available in a mint green and white color combo, this special edition AF1 is merely another triumph for the model's family. Just like Kobe, they're used to big wins.
