Nike’s 40-year-old basketball shoe, the Uptown, looks pretty luxe in paisley, with another update to the US sneaker giant’s ubiquitous Air Force 1 sneaker.

Clean might be the better word here. The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Paisley” arrives in a creamy “Summit White” leather upper, keeping the foundation classic while letting the paisley do the work.

The sneaker’s clean base is contrasted by bold paisley detailing that outlines key features, primarily wrapping the Swoosh on the side panels and the heel tab branding.

Across the monochromatic sneaker, paisley teardrops and star shapes are embossed directly into the leather, turning the shoe into a more textural take on the Air Force 1.

It sits somewhere between smooth leather AF1s and more expressive patterned versions, letting texture, rather than color, carry the design.

For the uninitiated, paisley is a motif with Persian and Indian roots, typically defined by a droplet shape caught mid-swirl and filled with floral or geometric detail. Over time, it’s appeared everywhere from bandanas to visvim and Etro jackets, carrying cultural weight without needing explanation.

Set to release in Spring 2026 on Nike’s website, the Air Force 1 Low “Paisley” isn’t the first Uptown to experiment with the motif. Nike has played with paisley across Dunks and previous AF1s before, often using it sparingly. Here, the commitment feels clearer, with the pattern becoming the point rather than a small accent.

40 years later, the Air Force 1 isn’t afraid of being a little extra.
