Forget 2016. Nike’s Plushest Air Max Says It's 2017 Again
Everyone's talking about making it feel like 2016 again. But what about 2017? It was also a (somewhat) good year, especially for sneakers. We were blessed with serious heaters like Off-White™'s coveted Air Jordan 1 "Chicago" sneakers and KAWS' all-grey Air Jordan 4s.
That same year, Nike also created easily one of its plushest Air Max models ever, the Air Max 2017.
Fast forward to 2026, Nike's making it feel like 2017 all over again with the return of its ultra-cozy Air Max sneaker.
Nine years later, it's still cushy as ever. Expect signature touches like the extra-breathable Flymesh uppers. Of course, it again features a layered sole, with sculpted Cushlon on one level and a full foot of Air on the next.
It's been a while since we've gotten a year-themed Air Max sneaker (recall the Air Max 2021). But Nike has certainly introduced several new models since, like the Air Max DN8 featuring the all-new Dynamic Air technology. Oh, and let's not forget those "poisonous" Air Liquid Max sneakers scheduled to debut on Air Max Day 2026.
But for the most part, nostalgia is certainly in the air for Air Max Month. Nike dressed up several classic Air Max models in "Neon" clothes, and even revived the OG Air Max 95 sneaker.
Now, the softest Air Maxes of 2017 are back on Nike's website for $190.
