Ever wondered what what sneaker would restult if a Nike Dunk and a hiking shoe were smashed together? Well, you’re about to find out.

Nike's C1TY sneaker is a subtly rugged shoe with the profile of a Nike Dunk but the hard-wearing materials of something more outdoorsy, first released in 2024 but really hitting its stride in 2025.

Joining its array of existing and excellent colorways, a new iteration of Nike's C1TY shoe comes dressed in an army green shade fittingly titled “Surplus,” in reference to the earth tones innate to military surplus stores.

This khaki-toned C1TY sneaker comes with breathable, element-defying textiles on its upper to shield one's feet from the elements and adapt quickly to various terrains, while also featuring luxurious suede accentuations throughout for flavor.

It all sits atop the C1TY sneaker's signature cushioned black waffle sole, its grippy ruggedness something of a flipped bird at slimmer ballet-like sneakers' ongoing chokehold on footwear consumers.

Inspired instead by the sturdy utilitarianism of military gear, the C1TY shoe in “Surplus” goes in a whole other direction even when compared to some of its recent Nike sibling releases.

Both Nike's scrumptious C1TY Premium Cordura or the spring-appropriate "Sail/Coconut Milk" version released only a few months ago veer elsewhere entirely.

This is of course only further proof of the C1TY shoe's previously under-appreciated versatility.

But don't go thinking that these Nike kicks aren't or haven't been on the pulse of broader culture though.

Because, as far as general fashion trend developments go, the olive-hued $100-priced “Surplus” sneaker that's currently available on Nike's website feeds right into the camouflage resurgence that's been omnipresent as of late.

Not too in-your-face, nor too basic, the Nike C1TY “Surplus” is an honorable discharge from a bland sneaker game.
