Nike has been teasing the return of its Air Max Sunder sneaker model for some time — it’s been a whole three years since COMME des GARÇONS dropped its collaborative pairs — but now, finally, its re-release is imminent. 

Nike’s yearly SNKRS showcase just concluded and it included, among some other wild shoes, a GORE-TEX version of the retro, zip-up sneaker.

Nike's Air Max Sunder was released so long ago that its original drop is a distant memory, making this the rare return of an otherwise archival shoe. And, almost simultaneously, the streetwear label Kids Of Immigrants previewed a reworked, colorful take on the reborn Nike sneaker.

First seen in a video by the London-based presenter and content creator FDfromthefuture, the Kids Of Immigrants x Nike Air Max Sunder SP reimagines the sneaker's upper with grid-patterned overlays covering either side of the shoe.

Kids of Immigrants' blue-colored, gridded overlay complements the gradient print on its collaborative sneaker's upper, which transitions from bright pink into a darker purple. 

It’s a colorful proposition, in line with the bright-hued colorways Nike is known for creating with its Air Max Plus line. And a potential second colorway of the sneaker isn’t any more muted.

Images of a yellow and orange-colored variation of the shoe have also emerged, giving it a look reminiscent of the OG Nike Air Max Sunder "Canyon Gold" (which is also rumored to be re-released later this year).

Whether or not there will be anything beyond the two pairs of Kids Of Immigrants x Nike Air Max Sunder SP sneakers released is all speculation for now.

However, what we know for certain is that a terrifically stylish and incredibly easy to fasten follow-up to the Kids Of Immigrants x Nike Air Max 1 is coming soon. Hopefully, it's just as waterproof as the version that Nike itself is dropping by the end of the year.
