What We’re Saying: As Giannis and company are in the midst of an Eastern Conference Finals showdown against Trae Young and the Atlanta Haws, Nike is taking the opportunity to officially introduce the Greek Freak's latest signature sneaker, the Zoom Freak 3. Of course designed to cater to his imposing style of play, the all-new model will be available in two colorways in just a matter of days.

Giannis is best known for his physical, downhill play, and that insane Euro step that gets him to the basket with a single stride. The tech in the Zoom Freak 3 is implemented not only to fit this style of play, but even more so enhance it.

“One of the hallmarks of his athleticism is transferring energy quickly from leg to leg to maneuver his body through gaps,” said Ross Klein, Sr. Creative Director for Men’s Performance Footwear at Nike. “Giannis works his foot like a gas and brake. He also works all different angles of his foot as he’s driving to the basket, so we wanted to contour the design to fit the way he transitions from step to step.”

In order to absorb energy and provide responsiveness, Nike has positioned two Zoom Air units under the ball of the foot in the Zoom Freak 3, as the entire setup is noticeably low to the ground, allowing Giannis to better feel the floor while attacking the basket. Up top, you will find an engineered upper as well as a forefoot strap that ensures the foot remains contained no matter the movement. The bottom of the shoe then features an outsole pattern that draws from one of Nike Basketball's most recognizable motifs.

For reasons undisclosed, Giannis will not be wearing the Zoom Freak 3 when he suits up against the Hawks tonight in game four of the Eastern Conference Finals. Nonetheless, two colorways — the black and purple Project 34 and the orange Freak — will be available globally on July 1 and in North America in August.

To complete the look, here are some other fire items to wear on the basketball court this summer.
