The North Face
1 / 8

Nothing good lasts forever. After four glorious collaborations, The North Face and Hender Scheme are calling it quits, leaving us with one last lovely collection for Fall/Winter 2022.

It's a concise affair but that's okay, no one likes a long goodbye.

And, even with just a handful of pieces, it's arguably as good as anything else bearing the North Face x Hender Scheme name.

The idea was to mix quilted textiles and down filling, creating accessories ideal for winter chill.

This follows previous cold weather The North Face x Hender Scheme collabs; heck, the transforming capabilities even mirrors some of hot season stuff.

You've got some of The North Face's signature shoes (well, Japanese North Face signatures, at least) elevated by Hender Scheme whimsy, plus insulating neckwarmers and blankets made to be adjusted.

As usual, the idea is to create stuff that's wearable both indoors and outdoors, shifting purpose as needs demand.

For instance, the HS Down Climbing Diversity (the shoe with the lugged Vibram sole) is rife with functionality, from the toggle-tightened forefoot to the removable inner bootie — wear the shoe when out and slip the bootie out to pad around the house.

The blanket and neckwarmer are no less multifaceted, with buttons that change the proportions, pulltabs to tighten, and a nifty leather carrying strap for the blanket.

Executed in the usual monochrome tones of every The North Face x Hender Scheme offering, the FW22 collection allows the veg-tanned leather tags and trim to really pop.

It's all dropping on November 11 at select Japanese The North Face stores and Hender Scheme's flagship locations, so tough luck for the international community.

However, if nothing else, we can admire and enjoy from a distance. It's a shame that all of these great Japanese North Face collabs eventually come to a close but, truly, nothing good lasts forever.

And rest assured that the next one will be no less excellent.
