What We’re Saying: It’s been a while since OAMC and adidas Originals have dropped a collaborative sneaker, but after seeing the upcoming Type 09, it’s definitely been worth the wait. The adidas Originals by OAMC Type 09 falls perfectly in line with the aesthetic the two brands have established over the past few seasons, namely: radically futuristic takes on classic adidas silhouettes.

The Type 09 features the early-’00s “Microbounce” technology that bears more than a few similarities to Nike Shox. It is one of adidas’ most eye-catching midsole technologies and perfect visually for the OAMC x adidas collaboration, which prompts the question of why it took so long to become part of the collab?

OAMC has updated the classic Microbounce sneaker with premium materials, decking the upper in smooth suede, leather, and mesh. Translucent TPU paneling is seen across the toes and around the heel, adding more structure to what is otherwise a sleek sneaker. The crown jewel of the sneaker, however, is the Microbounce midsole, which runs from the heel to the toes.

The sneaker arrives in three colorways – off-white/cream, an earthy brown/black, and an asphalt colorway (the latter of which is exclusive to OAMC) — and is apparently inspired by famous sculptor Robert Gober.

Look for the OAMC x adidas Originals Type 09 to drop on June 10.
