There are few things more Amsterdam than someone cycling one-handed through traffic holding a coffee, a bouquet of tulips, maybe a small Dachshund in the frontbasket, and somehow still finding time to make the way they drive everyone's problem.

This is a city where bikes outnumber people and tourists learn fear through the medium of bike lanes. So honestly, when Oatly announced the world’s first Bike Thru in Amsterdam, your first response might be: “How come this didn’t already exist?”. The concept is beautifully simple: take a traditional drive-thru. Then remove the cars, the engines and the oil fumes, and replace them with bikes and oat drinks. And not just any oat drinks either: Throughout the pop-up, the Bike Thru will serve a rotating line-up of creations featuring miso caramel, tiramisu, woodruff cold foam, hojicha soft serve and even a deliberately mysterious “Mystery Drink”.

The Bike Thru lets cyclists pedal through a dedicated lane, grab a Oatly Signature drink, and continue on their way into the city without ever dismounting. Which means Amsterdam has now achieved what urban planners elsewhere can only dream of: caffeine efficiency at bicycle speed.

The truly genius part of the Bike Thru is that Oatly didn’t try to change anyone’s behaviour. As Christiaan van Doornik, Oatly’s Benelux GM, explains, the idea wasn’t to make sustainability feel preachy or inconvenient. The point was to make sustainable choices feel natural. Amsterdam already chose bikes decades ago, so Oatly simply observed the city's culture and realized that this might be the place where people would absolutely order drinks while cycling. And they were right.

The Oatly Bike Thru will run from 16 May to 7 June 2026 at Papaverhoek 24, serving Oatly Signature drinks. For ClassPass members the Oatly Bike Thru will also be available throughout its full 3.5-week run, allowing members to use credits to grab drinks and enjoy 35% off.
