What We’re Saying: The On Cloudnova Z5 is the running brand’s latest lifestyle sneaker and part of On’s growing PAD (Performance All Day) collection. PAD combines the Swiss brands’ performance tech with a more lifestyle-oriented aesthetic.
The Cloudnova Z5 is a distant cousin of the original Cloudnova and was created in On’s lab in Zurich, where the brand’s design team works on experiments that, more often than not, don’t see the light of day. Some sneakers, however, are too good to keep locked away. The Z5 — which is named after Zurich District 5 — is one such design. On likes to playfully call these creations Monsters and special editions.
The On Cloudnova Z5 combines the Coudnova’s PAD sole with the upper of the Cloudflash, one of On’s fastest running models. Sprinkle in a few neon hits and the result is a sneaker that half speed, half street.
