Sony unveiled the logo for its forthcoming PlayStation 5 – the PS5 – at the CES 2020 press conference on Monday, and Twitter has not held back in sharing its thoughts on the new design.

The tech giant has been steadily doling out details about the PlayStation 5, including an official release window, specifications, UI, and Dualshock 5 controller innovations (read more about the previously released details here). Unfortunately, last night's big reveal offered little insight in terms of a new design direction.

Visually, the PS5 logo follows in the footsteps of the 3rd and 4th generation consoles. In fact, it's the same font and size; basically only the number itself has been updated. And given that we still don't know what the console will look like, some fans were disappointed by the lack of insight the new logo provided.

A hyped unveil and such a predictable outcome may have irritated some fans, but Twitter seems to have seen the funnier side.

We'll likely know more about the PlayStation 5 in June when Sony makes its presentation at the E3 expo in Los Angeles. Until then, here's everything we know so far about PlayStation 5.
