It finally happened. Just when it started to feel like we might never get new music from Rihanna, Marvel's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever saved the day.

After six silent years, the Bad Gal gave us a new song to stream: "Lift Me Up," an emotional ballad that pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman, the late star of Black Panther.

For weeks, the rumor mill churned with speculation that Wakanda Forever would feature one, if not several, new tracks from the ANTI singer. On October 26, Rih took to Instagram to confirm her presence on the soundtrack, which will also feature Tems, Kendrick Lamar, and Amaarae.

Despite the sentimental context surrounding "Lift Me Up," the song has left some fans disappointed. After a six-year-long Rihanna drought, it seems some were hoping for a danceable banger along the lines of "Only Girl (In The World)" or "Work."

Bop or not, we'll take what we can get. After all, Rihanna makes it pretty difficult not to obsess over anything she does, thanks to her impeccable stye (exhibit A: her maternity style tour), her musical talent (are you listening to the vocals on "Lift Me Up"?!), and her sense of humor.
