What is a Supreme collection without an unexpected collaboration, or two? For the Spring/Summer 2025 season, that unforeseen link-up comes with SpongeBob SquarePants.

In its SS25 lookbook, Supreme unveiled a host of products together with past favorite collaborators: Nike returns for a black/silver Air Max 1, there’s a new round of leather jackets with Schott, and more football-inspired goodness is in the pipeline with Umbro.

SpongeBob is one of a few new names added to Supreme’s vast collaborations roster for SS25.

The streetwear heavyweight and the Nickelodeon television show link up for a pretty expansive range of products.

There is a racing-inspired jacket produced in partnership with Jeff Hamilton and a cycling collection created with the Italian label Castelli: SpongeBob-branded cycling jerseys, water bottles, socks… the lot.

It’s a pretty niche crosssection of people seemingly being targeted by this collection: Streetwear-wearing, SpongeBob-loving cyclists. However, there is a proven appetite for all things Spongebob in fashion.

Back in 2007, SpongeBob graced the Louis Vuitton runway as part of the French luxury house’s Spring/Summer 2008 collection, under the creative direction of Marc Jacobs. The SpongeBob episode The Boys Who Cry played from video screens attached to bags.

And since then, SpongeBob fashion collaborations have continued to quietly be unveiled.

Most recently, Cactus Plant Flea Market teamed up with UNIQLO to create SpongeBob merch and GCDS put the square-shaped character on the runway once more, as part of Milan Fashion Week.

Plus, JW Anderson seemingly got inspired by the character for its SS23 collection.

Now with Supreme’s cosign, SpongeBob has been honored in collections by streetwear’s biggest label and the world's most valuable luxury house. Is it time to start calling SpongeBob a fashion icon?
