Tekashi 6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, will be getting out of prison three months early. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the controversial rapper will be released on August 2.

A spokesperson for the Bureau confirmed the release date to Complex. "We can confirm, Inmate Hernandez has a projected release date of August 2, 2020." A member of Hernandez's legal team, Dawn Florio, said the reason he's getting released early is "because he’s the perfect model prisoner."

Hernandez originally faced a 47 years to life sentence for a number of crimes including firearm charges, racketeering conspiracy, and narcotics trafficking. In February 2019, the rapper pled guilty and became a cooperating witness, testifying against fellow Nine Trey Gangsta Blood members.

In December 2019, Hernandez received a sentence of 24 months as a reward for his cooperation.
