Today Netflix shares the teaser trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, the prequel to Jim Henson and Frank Oz's 1982 fantasy, The Dark Crystal. The upcoming series centers around three Gelfling heroes as they lead a rebellion against the cruel emperor in an attempt to save their world.

Netflix's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is based on J.M. Lee’s Dark Crystal companion novels, Shadows of the Dark Crystal and Song of the Dark Crystal. In the series the mysterious Dark Crystal is the power source for the Skeksis castle. When it is cracked, the Skeksis gradually become power-driven and obsessed with their own longevity.

Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Nathalie Emmanuel have been tasked with voicing the lead characters in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, while Helena Bonham Carter, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Theo James, Toby Jones, Shazad Latif, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Mark Strong, Alicia Vikander, Harvey Fierstein, Mark Hamill, Ralph Ineson, Jason Isaacs, Keegan-Michael Key, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Simon Pegg, Andy Samberg, and Donna Kimball also feature.
