Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten made its most famous sneaker a slip on. Obviously, it's perfect.

You know the one, the skinny “Suede Sneaker” that took the internet by storm, not so long ago. Arguably, the brand's first “it sneaker”, so why not convert it into a mule?

Thankfully, it doesn’t stray too far from the OG, tan suede upper, buffed leather appliqués at the sides, and a serrated edge at the lace-up closure. From the front, with the laces intact, you wouldn’t even know it’s missing its rear end.

Julian Klausner, the new head of Dries Van Noten, is proving that while it's a new chapter for the house, the DNA is very much still intact, that same obsessive attention to detail, that same ability to make something feel both considered and completely casual. The slip-on sneaker is new. The attitude isn't.

This is about as stripped-back as a sneaker gets: calf suede, cotton laces, and the confidence to leave it at that.
