This Tuesday, Highsnobiety will discuss the history, future and cultural legacy of adidas' ZX series for its first-ever live show of The Dropcast. Recorded from adidas’ store in Soho, NY, hosts Noah Thomas and Jian DeLeon will be joined by adidas’ NYC culture ambassador Tyler Busher. In front of a live audience, the three will dive into the sneaker franchise's past, the best models ever released, and what the future holds.

Launched in 1984, the ZX series started as a collection of progressive running shoes that catered to the differing needs of each runner. Over the last three and a half decades, the collection has grown to become one of the brand’s pinnacle franchises and has featured many of its greatest proprietary innovations such as Torsion, Soft Cell cushioning and, more recently, 4D technology.

Although originally a performance shoe, the ZX has also left a lasting impact on culture, too. In the late ‘80s – peaking in the second summer of love – the ZX was adopted by subcultural sets from the acid house and rave movements in Manchester and Berlin, and its enduring appeal continues to garner a devout following to this day.

This special episode of The Dropcast will be aired Friday. Check the current ZX collection here
