Thundercat was joined by friends and collaborators Steve Lacy and Flying Lotus for his performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, where they paid tribute to Mac Miller. With the help of 64-year-old singer Steve Arrington, who shared lead vocals with Thundercat and Lacy, the collective performed a rendition of Thundercat's “Black Qualls,” before transitioning into Miller's “What’s The Use?”

For the special performance, Thundercat played the guitar and sang, as did Lacy, while Flying Lotus, who co-produced “Black Qualls,” was on the keyboard. “Black Qualls” will feature on Thundercat's new album, It Is What It Is, which is due out April 3 via Brainfeeder.

The inclusion of Mac Miller's 2018 track “What’s The Use?” seemingly centers around Thundercat's involvement on the original song. Furthermore, Lacy's Internet bandmate Syd sang backup on the 2018 tune.
