Double Tap to Zoom

A year ago, Bottega Veneta made its own Timbs. Now, Timberland returns the favor by Bottega-fying its signature 6" work boot.

Now, we're talking fairly loose here — the Bottega "Timbs" weren't a direct clone at all, but merely a tan boot that payed overt homage to Timberland's timeless original.

And in return, Timberland's latest premium 6" leather boot is not a Bottega dupe but merely a shoe of similar stylistic sensibilities.

Quietly released in late 2024, the unnamed black Timberland lace-up is given its shape by a woven black leather that recalls Bottega Veneta's signature Intrecciato weave. Compare to some of Bottega's existing Intrecciato boots and be amazed — obviously, there are some tangible differences once you get the latter in hand but that's besides the point.

The resulting shoe is certainly a shade or two more sumptuous than your average pair of Timbs, their sleek surface glistening with a slick sheen. The matching rope laces are a nice, luxe detail that's both classic Timberland and a touch of class.

The "Bottega" Timbs recall some of the other recent high-end Timberland boots, like Veneda Carter's statement shoes and last year's delectably plump puffer pairs.

But the appeal of these Timbs' luxury leanings goes beyond surface level.

In a way, it feels like an extension of Timberland's early 2024 fashion week takeover, when it aligned with folks as disparate as Wales Bonner and Pigalle founder Stéphane Ashpool to dominate the moment. A landmark Louis Vuitton collaboration only further cemented Timberland's high-end aspirations.

That Timberland dropped its own "Bottega" Timbs a year after the luxury label made its own workwear overtures can't be a coincidence, right?

Well, if it is, it sure is a canny one: The woven "Bottega" Timbs are nearly all sold out online, even at $250 a pair. Considering that's only like $50 more than a normal pair, though, not a terrible price to pay for the look of luxury.
