Judging by Vans' latest Authentic, the classic skate shoe has dreams of being a work boot.

The new Vans Authentic V-Lug sneaker looks exactly as it sounds, with the famed model featuring, well, V-Lug soles.

The V-shaped traction on the bottom provides better overall grip on surfaces, but it also makes the soles even thicker, giving the Vans Authentic a boot-like feel.

What's more, the brand leans even more into the Timberland-level aesthetic, updating the Authentic with metal hexagonal eyelets and even work boot-style shoelaces.

Elsewhere on the Vans Authentic V-Lug, you'll find creamy leather and impressive contrast stitching. But don't let the deliciously clever touches fool you, as they're just as durable as they are stylish.

Vans' newest sneakers are now up for grabs on its website for $100, available in satisfying brown and pink colorways.

Vans has delivered quite a few toughened-up versions of its most recognizable models, including sturdy Half Cab boots, Authentics with Vibram soles, and Dyneema skate shoes (basically bulletproof vests you can skate in).

The new Authentic V-Lug sneakers only advance the brand's hardy-shoe era.
