Vans' HOKA Sneaker Is Still Way Cooler than Your Average Runner
Vans is coming for it all. First, the skate house bit Chanel's swag to all of our delight and now it's coming for HOKA's bag.
The Vans UltraRange Neo 2.0 Shoe is a mesh-tastic sneaker that answers the question: What if a skate brand made a running shoe?
Instead of the classic flat waffle outsole that's all but synonymous with Vans' traditional skate shoes, the UltraRange Neo 2.0 sneaker sports a thick wedged outsole akin to what you'd find underneath a HOKA or a hardwearing trail shoe.
Up top, Vans maintains a level of consistent cool with a mesh-knit upper and gray suede paneling throughout. These swaths of fishnet add some textural edge to what would otherwise be a pretty standard runner.
While the UltraRange Neo 2.0 borrows a lot from the wonderful world of running sneakers, Vans is allowed to be a bit inspired considering how many others have taken the skatehouse's signature silhouettes out for a spin.
There's the Prada Drill fabric sneaker, which looks like a classic Vans Authentic, the Givenchy Premium Leather sneaker that looks like an Old Skool, and who could forget the checkered Bottega Veneta slip-on that's about as Vans-coded as you can get without actually being a Vans sneaker.
Just about everyone wants a piece of the Vans pie and sometimes the influencer deserves to be influenced.
